BioIdea is founded by PhD biologist J Jay Jin in thinking of applying ideas and knowledge into Biological, bioenvironmental testing and services, and material testing.

Jay is a PhD of Mycology (study of fungi) graduated from The University of Tennessee  at Knoxville in 2000.

He also worked in Basidiomycete (a group of fungi) research and mushroom industry for more than 10 years.

Later on, he moved to University of Texas HSC at San Antonio in studying molecular genetics on human pathogenic yeasts (Cryptococcus neoformans, Candida albicans) and filamentous mold Aspergillus fumigatus. In the meantime, he participated the medical round on human and animal pathogenic molds (Hyphomycete) in the Fungal Testing Center of The University of Texas HSC at San Antonio.

He also practiced mold testing in a company for some time and was appointed as AIHA EMPAT QA/QC manager in 2004-2005.

For more than 10 years, Jay also used modern molecular biology by using those evolutionarily conserved genes, such as LSU, SSU, ITS, IGS in studying fungal taxonomy, classification and phylogeny in combination of traditional morphological characters, and mating compatibility. Jay also practiced biomedical research in several universitites for many years.
